BBS conducts field and Research projects, which enable students to deal with real life business situations. The following are just the examples of such projects:
- The School of Finance carries out case study titled “Equity Restructuring with Quasi-Reorganization Approach: Case of PT. Grahaniaga Tatautama”. This research analyzes the quasi reorganization for the equity restructuring with low cost approach. The result of the company's restructuring is to help the company not only to survive from the negative equity but also to enable it to pay dividend.
Finance school also runs group field studies such as “Generate Electricity Supply in Northern Lampung Investment Analysis of Coal Fired Power Plant Acquisition and Future Development at PT. Medco Power Indonesia”. This research uses the application of real option methodology to analyze the capital budgeting problem at PT. Medco Power Indonesia. The result confirmed that by using the real option method the acquisition is the best financial decision made.
Another group filed study with the title “The Development of Network TV Station: Financial Approach of Applied Economic Commercial Approach”, plans to anticipate the future loss of the current regulation in TV industry. The result is expected to provide analysis and solution for TV station to prevent and minimize the future loss due to the application of the new regulation.
Besides that Finance school also engages in research projects, and some of them are as follows: “The Effect of M&A Synergy on Free Cash Flow for Firm (FCFF): Evidence from Asian Mergers & Acquisitions”. This research provides evidence that in the case of mergers and acquisitions, operating synergy and financial synergy effected FCFF in different directions. This helps companies to evaluate synergies effect on their cash flow after the M&A action. Another field research is “Impact of Implementation IFRS Fair Value on Equity Instrument in Indonesia”. This research is to provide evidence as to whether the IFRS fair value on equity instrument has significant differences by using mark to market and mark to model approaches. The result of this research can be considered by Dewan Standard Akuntansi Keuangan in how to implement IFRS in Indonesia.
- The School Strategic Marketing carries out group field projects such as “Developing Market Entry Strategies to Enter Five Star Hotel Industry for Magna Furniture”. This project focuses on decision making process and buyer behavior in furniture manufacturing industry by analyzing marketing entry strategy implemented by PT. Gloria with its brand Magna. Another r of such projects is titled “Revisiting Marketing Strategy of Mix Marketing Extra”. This project uses exploratory and qualitative analysis techniques to obtain deeper insights regarding consumer behavior toward MIX and similar media. Its findings suggest that MIX is not in competition with other marketing magazines but also its sister publication, SWA magazine.
One of Strategic Marketing School research projects in titled” Customer Satisfaction Analysis Using ServQual Method: A Case Study of Bhinneka.com Website”. This research measures customer satisfaction in Bhinneka.com website using ServQual. The service quality dimensions evaluated including reliability, responsiveness, assurance, empathy, and tangible.
- The School of Management carries out group field projects, and some of them are as follows: “Successful Strategy for PT Forever Green Living as a Start-Up Company in Organic Business”. This project has allowed both students carried-up customer survey, Porter's five forces analysis, SWOT analysis, marketing mix analysis, risk analysis, competitor analysis, and five generic competitive advantage analyses. The outcome of analysis is used in formulating a business strategy and business model. Some of the recommendations have been implemented by the company and gave an increase in sales.
Another example of group field project by the School of Management is titled “Analysis on Factors of Employee Turnover at PT Infomedia Nusantara Contact Center Telkom 147 Speedy”. This project enables to identify that this company has a high employee turnover, formulate several hypothesis. The outcome showed several factors considered as important factors that caused a high employee turnover, such as satisfaction, career development, responsibility, salary and benefit. Several recommendations to overcome these issues have been proposed.
Another example of achievements by the students of School of Management is a field group project with the title “Strategy Formulation and Execution at CV Jawara Kasih Sejati”. CV Jawara Kasih Sejati is a company doing land clearing, barging and delivery. The students carried-out effectivity and efficiency analysis, strategy review, and gap analysis. As a result, they proposed a strategy and then translate that into actions by using balanced scorecard, completed with key performance index. They also provided that readiness analysis of the company to implement the strategy.
